Carers Week 2025 – Caring about Equality
Carers Week takes place 9th to 15th June 2025 under the theme of ‘Caring about Equality’.
Caring shouldn’t mean inequality
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
The campaign is brought to life by thousands of individuals and organisations who come together to provide support for carers, run activities, highlight the vital role carers play in our communities and draw attention to just how important caring is.
This year the theme is ‘Caring About Equality‘ highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, poor mental and physical health. Far too often, carers of all-ages miss out on opportunities in their education, careers, or personal lives, just because of their caring role. Get involved in Carers Week 2025, and together let’s work towards an equal society, where carers are truly valued, recognised and supported.

Carers Trust Campaign is promoting these key messages.
The need to:
- End carer poverty
- Stop carers being pushed to the limit
- Create fairer futures for young carers
Because:
- 1 in 7 carers have had to use a food bank
- 73% of the public believe carers should receive more support from Government
- Over 90% of carers feel ignored by the Government
All too often, caring for a friend or family member with a long-term illness, disability, mental health condition or addiction can come at a significant personal cost for the carer. Carers experience inequalities in many areas of their lives. This could be the financial hardship many carers face as a result of having to give up paid work to care for someone. Or it could be the challenges many young carers face when it comes to accessing education and employment opportunities. Carers of all ages are at a greater risk of isolation, and carers are also more likely to experience poor physical health.
New research for Carers Week shows 43% of current or former carers have seen a mental or physical health condition develop or become worse since taking on their caring responsibilities.
We know carers can often feel overlooked, with everything they do not being properly recognised. That’s why we are working with our partner organisations across the Carers Trust network of local carer organisations to level the playing field for carers here in Enfield, And with your support, we can make a real difference for carers by addressing the inequalities in their lives, whether that’s ending carer poverty, preventing carer burnout or creating fairer futures for young carers.
By supporting us this Carers Week, we can take a step closer to achieving those aims.
