Each month we have a Carers Essentials Session, mainly aimed at newly registered Carers, but open to others too. The idea is to get a chance to look at the Centre, meet some of our staff and get to know more about our services.
As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve decided that at each session we’ll throw in a talk and maybe even a quiz!
As this is a chance for us all to get to know each other, the topics will vary from the serious to just a bit of fun. Our own Danny Newland (Carers Advice & Support Manager) will talk about the importance of knowing “Your Rights” and give examples of how this helps dealing with everything from issues with a bin to resolving an car insurance issue, one of our volunteers will help you solve all your problems, with a talk on “Creative Problem Solving” and other Team members will give a topic that we intend to be relevant, or at least interesting to come and hear.
There will then be a period to allow attending carers to ask questions about the talk or the Centre and then, just when you thought we couldn’t cram in any more, there will be time to enjoy some tea, biscuits, perhaps even a cake if we get any donated! We hope these sessions will become an essential addition to your diary in 2025.
