My Mental Health toolkit for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers
Watch this great new @CarersTrust video where #YoungCarers discuss what they’ve learned from the #MyMentalHealth project about support for their #mentalhealth.
Breaking the Silence on Mental Health is a toolkit for young carer services. The toolkit hosts resources on how to empower young carers and young adult carers with knowledge and confidence so they have a voice and can take action.
Carers Trust have worked with young carers and young adult carers to create a great new film and online toolkit, designed to help young carers and young adult carers with their mental health.
The professionally-made animated video and online toolkit will be invaluable new resources for Young Carers, Young Adult Carers and professionals working with both or either group.
The resources provide young carers and young adult carers with the knowledge, confidence and opportunities to:
- understand their mental health needs and
- campaign to bring about positive change
The video and online toolkit are products of My Mental Health, a Carers Trust project that ran from Autumn 2020 to March 2021. The project brought together 281 young carers and young adult carers to participate in local and national campaigning activity to highlight young carers and the challenges they face.
Some of those involved have worked with Carers Trust to co-produce the video. The video uses their testimony to discuss their involvement in the project, and what they learned about their mental health that has helped them to achieve.
The online toolkit hosts resources on how to empower young carers and young adult carers with knowledge and confidence so they have a voice and can take action.
The video and the online toolkit are available via the Carers Trust website.
