Groundwork training for young people who are NEET
Groundwork London are running a programme to support NEET (Not in employment, education or training) 16–24-year-olds to access the training they need to move forward into employment, training or further education.
The programme is split in three: Accredited Training; One-to-one Support; and Assistance toward Employment/Education. See their flyer for more details and how to enrol.
1) Accredited Training
Qualified tutors run structured sessions to help the learners to achieve accredited qualifications in various subjects/topics, including:
- English and Maths Functional Skills
- Customer Service
- Employability
- Horticulture
- Business Administration
These sessions are currently being run via online platforms and we are supporting young people to get access to digital equipment if necessary.
2) One-to-one Support
Each learner has a dedicated achievement coach who helps them to address any issues they may be facing and inspire them to engage and move forward with their career.
- 1-2-1 sessions occur at least once per week.
The achievement coaches gain an understanding of the specific aspirations of each young person and identify other training or up-skilling needs. Support includes help with CV writing, interview preparation, confidence building and more.
3) Assistance toward Employment
When the young person is ready to start looking for a job, they work with Groundwork London’s Employer Liaison team to identify suitable job opportunities across a variety of sectors and secure interviews.
Groundwork London will facilitate referrals to direct job opportunities as well as supporting candidates to apply for apprenticeship programmes and other options.
For those young people who do not wish to go into employment, Groundwork London advisers also support progressions into further training or education.
Training is delivered remotely but please note, learners will need to be able to travel to one of the delivery locations for when the classes go back to F2F delivery as restrictions ease.
The delivery locations are: Greenwich, Bexley, Bromley, Camden, City, Hackney, Harringay, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Wandsworth, Westminster, Croydon, Sutton and Merton.
We regularly provide updates on learners who are referred to the programme, reviewing their progress and providing feedback on their time with us. We are happy to facilitate support with travel, work clothes and equipment for learning. The programme is a roll on roll off basis, as soon as a learner is referred over to us, we will contact and arrange their enrolment within one day.
