Even the most dedicated carers sometimes long for some time for themselves, when they can stop, relax and think about themselves for a change, if only for a little while. Our “Time For A Break” scheme provides the opportunity for you to do just that.

Taking time to rest and tune in to our bodies can be really helpful. Allowing the breath to guide us into moving with more ease is wonderful, in that we can take this feeling of ease, off the mat, into our every day lives.
Yoga can be helpful in noticing where we may be holding tension, where our minds can drift off to the past or future, Yoga can be helpful guide, back to the present moment.
Be lovely to have you join me, Gina, in a class suitable for all, as well as beginners. If you’re not able to get on the floor, feel free to sit in a chair. It can be adapted. All really welcome, in this gentle yoga class.
Come and de-stress, take care of our precious bodies and reset.
Prepare your exercise area with a mat, blanket and cushions. Hope to see you there.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Fancy a break? A trip to the cinema? A night out at the theatre? A meal out? A massage?
We arrange a variety of breaks aimed at giving carers a break from caring. These might include individual or group activities such as short breaks away (at home or abroad); days out; restaurants meals; trips to the cinema etc.
Most activities are just for carers, so that you get a real break from caring, but occasionally we organise activities which are open to carers and cared-for persons.
Our activities change all the time, so if you don’t see anything you like now, there might be something else that interests you in future. Make sure that you’re registered with the centre and that way we can keep you updated, by post or email, with what’s happening.
We may also be able to help you to apply for a grant to have a break with or without your cared for person. Ask the support team for more information.

Specialised therapeutic massage – “found it very relaxing and helpful, encouraging me to go to the gym more often and come out of the depressive mood that I sometimes fall [into] as a result of the pressures of my son’s condition and work juggling responsibilities”— Ian
