“Excellence For Carers” quality standard

Enfield Carers Centre was recently inspected by Carers Trust and awarded the “Excellence For Carers” quality standard.  Below is an excerpt from their inspection report:

“Enfield Carers Centre (ECC) demonstrated evidence across the standard areas.  ECC is a well-run, person-centred organisation. The staff team are skilled and passionate and go above and beyond to ensure that carers are supported in the very best way possible.

The Trustee Board are appropriately engaged and demonstrated commitment to supporting the organisation to grow and develop.

The team work hard, on a daily basis, to influence across the whole community, it is clearly paying dividends for the organisation.

The assessment of Enfield Carers Centre (ECC) against the Excellence for Carers Standards reveals a highly committed, innovative, and person-centred organisation that is deeply embedded in its local community.

The team are very focused on delivering excellent services but are clear on where their expertise lies and recognise when others are better placed to provide support and build external relationships accordingly.

The Centre is welcoming. Even as visitors, the assessors felt a positive vibe as soon as we entered the building.

Enfield Carers Centre (ECC) operates in a complex and often frustrating external environment, where systemic barriers hinder progress despite the organisation’s proactive efforts. Staff expressed concerns about inconsistent engagement from Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), lack of transparency around the allocation of the Better Care Fund (BCF), and the minimal representation of carers in strategic documents—highlighting a disconnect between policy rhetoric and practical support. Despite this the team are working hard to ensure carers are appropriately ‘on the agenda’ and that service delivery is absolutely as good as it can be.

Overall, ECC is a forward-thinking, resilient organisation that consistently places carers at the heart of its work. The team’s passion, adaptability, and strategic approach ensure that carers receive high-quality, responsive support in an increasingly challenging external environment.”

Chief Executive Pamela Burke said: “I’m delighted that Enfield Carers Centre and our marvellous staff team have received recognition through this national award.  We all work extremely hard to make unpaid carers’ lives better.  Many of our staff are also family carers and so they truly understand the challenges faced by those caring for a partner, relative or close friend who needs their help because of illness, disability or frailty.”

ECC provides a range of services to support family and unpaid carers as well as providing affordable care-at-home services for vulnerable adults and children with additional needs.  ECC supports carers living in or caring for someone who lives in the London Borough of Enfield.
