Our specialist dementia care is provided by trained, compassionate and experienced Care Support Workers and Personal Assistants.
At Enfield Carers Centre we focus not only on providing homecare services, but also supporting family Carers who have their loved ones’ best interests at heart.
Our Homecare Service can help you have peace of mind, knowing that your loved one is receiving the best quality, compassionate care when you can’t be around.
Research has shown that the vast majority of people would prefer to continue living in their own homes if they were to be diagnosed with dementia.
Living in familiar surroundings puts the mind at ease and reduces anxiety in people living with dementia.
What we do
All our dedicated staff are trained and experienced in how to care for someone living with dementia and use a range of best practice techniques. Our gentle and compassionate staff are able to support a person living with dementia so they can live a fulfilled and purposeful life. Our visits are never less than one hour – as a caring, quality service shouldn’t be rushed.
Our commitment to a fulfilled & purposeful life includes:
Sensitive & dignified personal care – Whilst personal care relates to day-to-day tasks such as washing, bathing, dressing, undressing we feel it’s important to think beyond these tasks and so our staff also consider a person’s confidence and self-esteem: a shave, freshly painted nails, or having our hair styled how we like it makes all the difference – so our staff will make sure your loved one feels their best every day.
Safe medication management – Our staff are trained in management of medication, crucially important in supporting someone living with dementia. They can monitor and administer medication, ensuring they are effectively managed and any prescription required is ready as and when needed – putting family Carers’ minds at rest.
Respect & Empathy – We equip our staff with extensive skills and tools such as validation techniques which involve communicating with people who have dementia in a way that acknowledges their words and actions with respect and empathy, rather than with embarrassment, anger or dismissiveness.
Listen and focus – Most importantly we listen and focus on learning about the life history of the person living with dementia. Discovering what is important to them enables us to plan activities, enabling us to develop a meaningful programme of care.
Trained and supported – Our staff receive regular dementia training, on-going coaching, mentoring and support to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and understanding to provide positive dementia care.
Wealth of experience – Our senior management team has a wealth of dementia care experience gained from a variety of settings and provide expertise and leadership to the ensure we provide the very best dementia care at home.
