Long term caring can be very stressful and you may sometimes feel that it is difficult to cope. Our counselling service is here to help. Counselling isn’t the same as discussing things with family or friends. Talking to somebody who understands but is not emotionally involved can really help you to open up and talk about how you feel.

“It’s good to talk”……

If you are willing to look thoughtfully and honestly at yourself and the problems that you experience and if you are open to finding better ways of coping with your caring role, counselling may be a way forward for you.

A counsellor won’t pass judgement on what you say and isn’t there to give you advice but will try to help you to develop insight into your problems and make decisions.

We can offer both day and evening counselling sessions for just £10 per session.

Get in touch with us at the Centre and we’ll organise up to six, very low-cost, counselling sessions for you.

Enfield Carers Centre is an organisational member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) Membership number: 00249027. All of our counsellors are individual members and have full liability insurance and enhanced DBS checks.

“I’ve never had counselling before. I felt comfortable and safe and that I was really being listened to. It made me look at myself differently – and how I reacted to my situation(s). At the end of my sessions, I felt less stressed, sleeping better and my ability to cope was improved – Thank you”  — Mary

What to expect from counselling

If you have decided to try counselling, you may be feeling anxious about your first session. Knowing what to expect from a counselling session should help you feel more prepared and less nervous about your first appointment.

In your first session, it is likely that your counsellor will ask you some questions in order to gain an understanding of what’s worrying you and the way your thought processes work. All of the information obtained here will be used to help you in future sessions.

Counselling can help you to cope with:

  • Emotional or psychological distress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression or low mood
  • Feeling out of control
